BB Distillery

Heart of Drina, Soul of Tara

“BB Klekovača” is the oldest existing Serbian distillery, best known for its signature rakija "klekovača" — a unique variety of slivovitz* (rakija made from plums) enriched with juniper berries. This authentic and time-honored rakija of Bajina Bašta and Mount Tara has been made in this region for centuries.

With unwavering faith in the strength of our land and deep respect for the rich tradition of rakija production in our region, we carefully align each step of our production with our historical and geographical identity — always driven by a clear vision and mission: to create premium drinks from the finest fruits and native plum varieties of Western Serbia.

Special Selection

In our ongoing pursuit of excellence and a deeper connection with the unique quality of fruit grown in our region, we have been developing a premium line of rakija varieties since 2011 under four series: "Special", "Selection", "Special Selection", and "Strictly Limited Series".

The current “Premium” line includes eighteen different rakija varieties: two special "klekovača" versions (Klekovača Special and Tica), twelve exquisite types of rakija (Apricot, Quince, Williams Pear, Raspberry, Blackberry, Nijansa, Wild Pear, Apple, Golden Apple, Golden Quince, Jabuka si bila, and Sour Cherry), three exceptional double-distilled slivovitz varieties available in strictly limited editions (Baština 1858 – 1,858 bottles, Baština 7 – 900 bottles, and Bela Drinska Rezerva – 1,000 bottles per year respectively), as well as our ten-year-old aged BB Stari Vinjak XO, Serbian grape brandy – 2,000 bottles annually.

At our Distillery, rare craftsmanship, scientific expertise, and one of the world’s oldest rakija-making traditions are passed down from generation to generation.

We produce 23 rakija varieties, all crafted from carefully selected fruits grown in the rich soils of Western Serbia. Our klekovača and slivovitz are made from native Serbian plum varieties – Trnovača and Požegača. Every BB rakija is made through a process of double distillation using top-quality copper stills heated with firewood. Around 900,000 liters of rakija are currently aging in our cellar, with one-third stored in Serbian oak barrels from Goč Mountain, with volumes ranging from 500 to 13,000 liters.

To Our Distillery

We welcome visitors on weekdays between 09:00 and 14:30 by appointment only.

You’ll be greeted by our host, who will guide you through the production process and offer tastings of our famous rakija like klekovača (BB Klekovača and BB Klekovača Special) and many others, in an authentic setting — among oak barrels and copper stills. You’ll also have the opportunity to purchase any of our rakija varieties at factory prices.

For every rakija in our Premium line, we apply additional fruit selection and carefully tailored approaches to fermentation, distillation, aging, and blending — depending on the fruit variety, the characteristics of the harvest, and our intent to express both the nature of each fruit and the distinctiveness of our region, our heritage, and the recognizable style of “BB Klekovača.”
