The brown bear is the symbol of Mount Tara, which is home to nearly 70% of Serbia’s entire brown bear population. This majestic creature represents strength, power, and protection. In Slavic and Serbian mythology, the bear is seen as a magical guardian of the mountain forests and their fruits.
The bear's Latin name, Ursus, has Indo-European origins, reflected in the Serbian name Uroš. Historically, Uroš was a regal name believed to carry magical significance. This is how names like Stefan Uroš Vojislav and Stefan Uroš Milutin Nemanjić were created. The Nemanjić dynasty is particularly significant to us, as Saint King Dragutin, a member of that lineage, founded the famous Rača Monastery near Bajina Bašta. His slava also serves as the patron saint's day of our distillery.
The brown bear of Mount Tara is the symbol of "BB Klekovača". Because of everything previously mentioned, and above all, because the bear represents the strongest symbol of our region. Just as the bear serves as a natural protector, we believe we should honor that role and rally together to safeguard our environment.
